The Indian government has rejected allegations made by former Japanese Justice Minister Hideki Makihara, who claimed that delays in the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project were caused by Indian officials. Makihara alleged that repeated commitments were not honored during negotiations, leading to setbacks in the ambitious high-speed rail project. Responding to the remarks, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the project is progressing as planned and dismissed the claims. Built using Japan’s Shinkansen technology with financial support from JICA, India’s first bullet train corridor is expected to begin phased passenger operations on August 15, 2027.
