Flash Floods Kill 11 In Jammu And Kashmir

11 people lost their lives, and 10 others remain missing after heavy rainfall triggered devastating flash floods in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. According to officials, nine deaths were reported from Poonch, while two people died in Rajouri as floodwaters swept through several villages, causing widespread destruction. Preliminary assessments indicate that over 100 houses were damaged, leaving many families displaced, while nearly 24 school buildings also suffered significant damage. Rescue teams, including local authorities and disaster response personnel, have launched extensive search and rescue operations to locate those still missing and assist affected residents. Continuous rainfall has complicated rescue efforts and raised concerns about further flooding in vulnerable areas. Authorities have urged people living near rivers, streams, and low-lying regions to remain alert and follow official advisories as emergency teams continue relief and restoration work across the flood-affected districts.
