Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was detained by Delhi Police during a protest near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi. Gandhi, along with several Congress leaders, staged a sit-in demanding action over the alleged NEET paper leak issue and seeking accountability from the government. Police intervened after the protest gathered near the high-security zone, removing Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other opposition leaders from the site before taking them into custody. Congress alleged that the detention reflected the government’s attempt to suppress democratic protests, while the police maintained that the action was taken to enforce security restrictions and maintain law and order. The protest came amid growing nationwide demonstrations over examination irregularities and police action against student protesters. The government has stated that it is willing to discuss education-related issues in Parliament, even as political tensions continue to rise.
